Walkthrough – Chrono Cross-Wiki Guide
The follow-up to the fantastically-successful Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, was received with less critical acclaim. It’s a pseudo-sequel, the Trigger narrative. Cross focuses on Serge, an innocent young man who’s removed from the world when trapped in a parallel version of his world. With the assistance of a girl known as Kid along with a huge collection of characters that can be played and characters – Serge must figure out what’s going on and also save the world while doing so.
It has been a long time since it was relegated to PlayStation. Chrono Cross has been upgraded and released in 2022 under the name Chrono Cross the Radical Dreamers Edition. Apart from some visual variations, a speed-up or slow-down feature, a couple of name changes, and the addition of the game the Radical Dreamers. However, it’s the same as it was in 1999.
Chrono Cross Walkthrough and Guide
In the following sections, you’ll find a comprehensive walkthrough, boss strategies, and a list of essential treasures and items in each Chrono Cross in the Radical Dreamers Edition area.
Part 01: Arni Village (Home) – Chrono Cross-Wiki Guide
Only bother with the side excursions. Head straight to the back to the back of the room. The goal is to switch off the gem and then move from the circular platform in the center of the room. Transfer to the top platform for another FMV sequence.
Following the nightmare, Serge wakes up in his room without the energy he experienced during his time in the Tower. Pilfer his savings of 200G that are hidden under the mattress. Head to the left, and you will locate a Tablet Element. Get out of the room. Serge’s mother is adamant about him his insomnia and also the fact that Leena arrived to look for Serge. He was supposed to be with Leena earlier in the morning.
Before you run away to meet your girl, leave the house after you leave your home. Meet the fisherman next to the swordfish, and then play along with his daily goals to get an unrestricted Komodo Scale. Go to the hut at the left of the village, and talk to the lady who is old for tips on how to obtain the Kodomo pups. Head down to the basement and speak to the man there. The guy will give you the Shark Tooth and tell an account of his life. Keep this in mind for the future.
Take a break, walk to the hut below the one you were in, and walk back, and then into an area smaller than the one you were in. Check the bed and chest. The mattress will provide you with the Hekran Bone, and the bin is filled with the Ivory Helmet. Chat with the woman wearing the red dress about poetry. If you speak to the barrel four times in a row, the barrel will grant you an element Uplift. It is important to recall her later. Keep track of the kid between the two huts. You could give him his Komodo Scale from the swordfish man. Look over the cart in the middle for the Custom Frame.
Character Recruit – Poshul
Once you have your Hekran Bone in hand, make sure to stop at the clearing towards the left side of the swordfish man and hand the Bone over to the Pink Wonder Dog. To do that, you must open the item’s key window by pressing Square, then choose to unlock the Hekran Bone. It would help if you were within the range of a conversation.
Poshul will join your team, and you can invite her back. If you do not take the time to recruit Poshul right now, you’ll have a last opportunity to recruit her former self in the future and Leena. Before leaving, look for the bucket outside the hut to find an Aquabeam element. Then, go inside the house to locate the Cure component behind the wall and scroll to the left.
Rejoin the main area of the village, and walk towards the Pier. Leena is furious at the person who showed up late and for not delivering on your promise to find Kodomo Scales. Kodomo Scales she needs. She needs three scales and giving her a few that were given to you will be ineffective. She will know. Take the village away.
Chrono Cross Walkthrough, Part Two: Lizard Rock
Take a break from Arni Village via the southeast corner of the main screen, and you’ll be on the global map. Save your progress to the world map and then, in the end, switch the players in your group. You can explore different locations at this point, but you’ll only be able to explore a little. The primary goal is Lizard Rock, located just south of Arni Village.
(The one spot you ought to visit. The most interesting place to visit is Cape Howl, located just north of Lizard Rock. It’s a small region with only a handful of basic enemies. In this area, you can collect the heal Element or the Bone. Both are helpful at the beginning of the game.)
The first dungeon to be found in this game (Fort Dragonia isn’t even counted), Lizard Rock is small and straightforward, and even if you didn’t bring Poshul along, you should be fine dealing with local monsters. The following are the main elements:
- Beach Bums – Blue Innate. Oval-shaped amphibious creatures. Beach Bums are a good choice for Elements to unleash on you if you allow them to, but they’re generally too slow to do much more than just attack. Start by removing these.
- Komodo Pups – Blue Innate. The predators, Komodo Pups, are quick but not strong, usually using SquirtGun (if any moves are made)—no big deal.
- SandSquirts – Blue Innate. Bigger, more powerful adversaries accompany small lizards. Not a big deal at all.
Your objective at Lizard Rock is to find and take down the three Komodo Pups. Each requires you to solve an easy puzzle and then try to chase down the Komodo Pup down.
Komodo Pup #1
First Komodo Pup is on the first screen of Lizard Rock. It will go through a tiny tunnel to escape yours. Head south from the entrance to locate a FireballElement within the chest of the Beach Bum. Then, follow this Komodo Pup north through the tunnel. On the south side, a large rock can be rolled in front of the tunnel, impairing the entrance. Continue towards the north and follow the Komodo Pup inside to corner it. Take it down for the first time on a Komodo Scale.
Komodo Pup #2
Second Komodo Pup is down the southeast path from the entry point into Lizard Rock, though it will be hiding whenever you come near it. Begin by going west and examining the rock located in this region’s southwest corner. It can be pushed into the water to create a chest containing silver loupe. Silver Loupe climbs up to the surface.
If you go back north, you’ll find a tree stump on the platform. Jump onto the stump and walk north, out of the screen, and onto the ledge, where a Beach Bum is hanging out. Get on the shelf, eliminate the Beach Bum, and then stroll south along the ridge back to the screen. There’s a jumping area that you can use to jump down on the Komodo Pup as it walks across. Make sure you time your jump to not jump onto the Komodo Pup just as it’s beneath you will cause a missed. Enjoy your second Komodo Scale.
Komodo Pup #3
Third Komodo Pup is down the northwestern route from the first Komodo’s monitor. You’ll be on the large looping path, and the Komodo Pup will try to beat you on this small circular track.
Take a look around before you head out to hunt for you find the Komodo Pup. There’s a small, tumbling waterfall to the southern part of the region, and to the left is a set of stairs leading to the water. You can walk underneath the bridge and see an unopened chest with the tablet Element to your left. Then, go north and turn to the left, crossing a short jump. The exit on the map is located towards the northwest. Then towards the southwest, is an apparent dead-end with a gap. You can jump into the hole and the island at the center of the loop. You’ll find an unopened chest that contains the Bone. Find it, then jump back into the water and explore the cave to the north of you. There’s an undiscovered path leading that leads to the white Helmet.
Return to the looping path that you started on. It would help if you caught the Komodo Pup; despite the appearance, there’s no way to do this. If you’re running counterclockwise along the route, you must keep the Pup in the air. It may seem futile initially. However, you’re slightly more agile than the lizard, and you’ll catch up with it in the end, as long as you stay on the same speed. There are three Komodo scales.
Whatever Komodo pup you killed at the end, you’ll be in the presence of Mama Komodo to end your scavenger hunt.

Mama Komodo
A bigger version of the smaller Komodos you’ve been fighting, The blue innate Mama Komodo, is pretty humdrum for a novice boss. She is primarily a fighter, but even though she does hit more heavily than other enemies at Lizard Rock, you shouldn’t be facing a stiff challenge, particularly if you’ve got Poshul as a player. Make sure you have a couple of Cure elements on Serge, and then heal as needed. The Fireball Element you acquired earlier can do serious damage in this fight.
You’ll be rewarded with 216 grams and a Fur (common drop) or a Tablet (rare drop) to defeat the Mama Komodo and other common reductions to take down Komodo puppies in the initial phase of the fight.
Opassa Beach
If you go west out from Lizard Rock, from the screen where you had to pursue your Komodo Pup in circles, you’ll see Opassa Beach. If you’ve got 3 Komodo Scales, Leena is waiting for you. She’ll be asking you a few questions. Choose ‘I’ll remember”‘ and ‘We’ll forever remember this moment’ and you’ll receive an item later in the gameplay. It looks like a lovely time, certainly…
… for, at the very least, until something goes bad. Serge (and Poshul, and possibly Poshul) will likely be entangled to… Something… or they will be gone when they return to Opassa Beach Leena. Weird.
Lizard Rock (Another World)
You’ll have to traverse Lizard Rock a second time to complete the journey, and you’ll find a brand new monster in addition to the previous ones:
- Opah Fish – Red Innate. While they’re not very good at physical health, Opah Fish will wreck your young team due to their numerous Red Innate attacks. Take them down using Blue Innate Elements before they can boost their stronger Elements.
While exploring Lizard Rock, you’ll notice that some new things are on the way, replacing the older ones. That’s handy. Go back and look at the same locations as before, and you’ll find the Bone and an Ivory Helmet, a Feather, and the ivory Helmet.
After you’ve finished exploring, leave Lizard Rock via the northeastern way. This will return you to the map of the world—Trek to Arni Village.
Part 03: Arni Village (Another)
In the following Chrono Cross and Chrono Cross Remaster walkthrough, discover how to get Leena along with Mojo and take on several bosses in Cape Howl.
Lizard Rock – Another World
Serge is alone on the secluded Opassa beach, except for an older woman who lives in the same village. Oddly enough, she claims not to have any knowledge of Surge. Take a break from Opassa Beach and return to Arni Village. You will have to cross Lizard Rock again, but there are new creatures this time. Take the lower route; however, be conscious that you will find some new items in the place where the previous ones were (Bone, Ivory Helmet). After you’ve finished, walk around the lower portion (where the tree that fell was) and return towards Arni Village.
Arni Village – Another World
You’ll discover this by talking to the people around you who have no memory of Serge. Begin by going to your house to find it in the hands of an individual. However, you should go upstairs and go through the mess to find the MagmaBomb component. After leaving home, you’ll be met by the angry owner asking you to explain what you’re doing at his home. Afterward, go to the dining room (bottom right side of that village). The back room has an unopened curtain where the chest was home. Open it for a chance to grab the Tablet. It is important to talk to the girl wearing blue about poetry (this helps you later). After speaking to her, you need to talk about”the “pot” 4 times. When you reach the fourth time, the person will reply and provide you with one IceLance element. The next stop is Radius’s house (left in the village from where you found Poshul), which Gonji is the name of the man who lives there. Gonji lives. The wall scroll contains a Tablet.
Then, go to her basement home (top right corner of the village). There’s her father in prayer to an angel. Remember this spot, as you’ll be back in a few minutes. Head to the dock and chat with Leena before heading for Cape Howl.
Cape Howl – Another World
Continue climbing the cliff. The treasure chests are filled with Bone along with the ElectroJolt element. Go up the exit at the top into a graveyard, and examine the gravestone. It is revealed that Serge has passed away in this alternate universe. A group of “ghost hunters” soon appear to throw Poshul off the rock (if you had enlisted him) and then attempt to take you.
There’s nothing too complicated here. Try using components that can be used to destroy all enemies, like MagmaBomb. Try ElectroJolt to Karsh. The girl needs to steal using her Pilfer ability. Solt, along with Pepper, is a fool and falls fast.
Following the battle after the fight, Leena (Kid) will request to join your group. You may decide to accept her, but it implies the possibility that Leena will forever disappear from you during this battle. Instead, turn her down three times now since you’ll get another chance to get her to join you later in Termina. You’ll be taken by the police back to Arni Village.
Arni Village – Another World
The next day, Leena appears in the storage room to get you up.
Character Recruit – Leena & Poshul
If you resisted Kid at the time of Cape Howl, Leena would immediately join your party. If you do not recruit Poshul back home, the gorgeous pink dog will join Leena. If Kid is present, Leena won’t join.
Character Recruit – Mojo
After you’ve got Leena at your table, return to Kiki’s basement. In the cellar, she shows her father that Shark Tooth she got from his previous self.
He is angry and orders you to take the item away. After he has spoken to you, make sure you leave the basement. If you allow him in, the icon Mojo will likely return to life and be a part of your celebration.
Take a detour from the village to Termina in the north. It is necessary to first travel through the Fossil Valley, located northeast of Arni Village, to reach the busy town.
NOTE: You should first visit the Hydra Marshes, located just East of Arni Village. There are a few other things.
