The process of adding cheats adding cheats to your ePSXe emulator is quite easy. First , locate the folder you saved the emulator in. It might be located in My Documents or under My Programs depending on the folder you saved it in. As you can see in the image below my copy is located in Downloads just because it’s the location the file was saved.
Within the ePSXe folder, there’s a folder called cheats. Open that folder and you’ll find some text files within. If you’re the first time playing this game there will only be only one text file that’s the one associated that is associated with that game in which you’re currently playing. For those who have clicked Download on several games will see several text files. In this situation you can sort them by Date altered to locate your game.
The way in which these files are arranged is according to the game’s ID that was created when the game was released. There are two kinds of games that you could recognize, NTSC commonly refers to games designed for America/USA. While PAL is commonly used to describe games designed specifically for UK as well as European countries. The majority of PAL games come with multiple languages settings, while NTSC games are only available in English.
Below is an overview about the different kinds and the meaning behind them.
SCUS (NTSC) Sony Created USA
(NTSC) Sony Licence USA: (NTSC) Sony Licence USA
(PAL) Sony Created Europe: (PAL) Sony Created Europe
SLES (PAL) Sony Licence Europe
If you’re unable to figure out what game you’d like for your codes, then the only method to determine it instead of sorting it according to Date Modified is looking up the SCUS, the SCES, SLUS or SLES along with the number. This will reveal which game it is associated with.
If you’ve worked the whole thing out, let’s discuss the final stage of the whole process – how to include your code in the code list in the ePSXe. The first step is to double click on the notepad file that corresponds to your game . This will open the code list.
Take note of the format the codes in this document use…
#Name of Code
0000000 0000
#Name of Code
0000000 0000
If you want to include your own codes in this list, it is recommended to use the same format. In the screenshot shown above , you’ll see that those highlighted are ones that I’ve personally added. The other codes were included with the game once I clicked the Download button that we spoke about prior to.
Simple enough, right? The last step is the most important aspect of the whole… After you’ve entered your codes into your Notepad document and then saved it – Do not click download after you’ve entered your codes Then click DOWNLOAD! It will erase any codes you have added and download from the original list. To get the game updated with the latest codes, close the game completely and restart it. Your updated codes will be in the game.
