Slime Rancher Beginners Guide (Tips & Tricks)
This page is a compilation of basic tips and tricks that I would’ve known when I first began play Slime Rancher. I’ve attempted to present the suggestions and tricks here starting at the beginning of the game until the conclusion of the game, but the tips and tricks here will be of use to you regardless of the level of game you’re currently at.
Beginner Tips and Tricks
1. Make your normal slimes Largos, and store (at at) 15 , in the Corrals.
Largos create 1 per type of slime they’re paired with. A Pink/Rock largo produces one plort each of these when eaten with normal food, and 2 plorts with their preferred food.
2. Feed slimes their favourite food to double the Plorts
3. After unlocking Slime Science you can setup Drones which can automate some tasks around the ranch for you.
4. If you’re looking to make money, you should focus on raising your slimes in your home, in the event that you wish to move the story forward , you should focus on the possibilities
5. Don’t get too involved on your Range Exchange until later in the game. Concentrate on establishing the farm stable first before explore the planet.
6. In the initial part of the game, you don’t need to bother playing with Henhens and Chicken Coops
7. Feeding an Largo more than one slime could result in him becoming the Tarr Slime. The slime is fatal to the rancher and cannot be cultivated for Plorts or for any money.
8. Try mixing meat eating slimes with slimes consuming vegetables and fruits. Since it’s much simpler to create fruits and vegetables using Gardens than to breed chickens, you’ll generally need to create Largo combinations that aid in this goal.
9. Certain slimes come with mechanisms that can cause problems if kept in close proximity to other slimes. Quantum Slimes, for instance are almost always able to escape their cages when they’re agitated. Boom Slimes are known to blast their Plorts from the Corrals occasionally and Tangle Slimes will grab any food or Plort that is within the confines of their cage. Then, Dervish Slimes will throw all food items or Plorts within the vicinity with their tornadoes. The slimes you have will be more likely to do this in the event that they’re agitated (meaning they’re not fed). Be aware of what Largo combinations you place alongside other slimes, in the event of a mistake, you could have a massive Tarr outbreak.
10. You don’t have to take a break in this game. Your character is never tired, and there is no penalty for being up all night and not sleeping.
11. Tarr Slimes are more likely to appear at night , as Phosphor Slimes are throughout the night.
12. Make Drones as soon as you can, since they will allow you to automate the entire farm task
13. Develop gadgets at the lab that unlock Treasure Cracker upgrades
14. Use the button on the Silo to alter the slot you keep your items. Each side of the Silo can be used to store 3 different things!

Check The Settings
Slime Rancher has only a few settings, but they could make a significant difference to the gameplay in particular in the case where you simply need to collect slimes rather than having to deal with dangers. What you can do to change and what the results will be:
- tutorial: When enabled this will help you understand the fundamentals of exploration, managing your Jetvac and how to manage your farm. If you’ve never played before, it’s worth turning onas it’s beneficial without being intrusive. It also provides explanations of concepts such as Tarrs, plorts as well as the science of slime.
- Tarrs slimes are whenever any slime consumes two plorts with a different shape than the one it eats. Tarr slimes can be aggressive and will eat slimes, food as well as livestockwho are in their way. If allowed, they may also become quite common as many places contain more than three types of slime. It is possible to eliminate slime by placing them in areas that are not allowed to be in or areas, soaking them in water, or letting them eat all the food they can see they turn against each other , and then explode.
- Feral slimes: Feral slimes are ones that haven’t been fed in recent times. While they’re not as aggressive as tarrs, they can strike at the first sign of a predator, and could cause damage to your health. Although you are not able to be killed but you could be returned to the ranch, and your possessions destroyed, so there are consequences for being snatched by them.
- Damage to the Player Player Damage: There’s none of the fall damages in the game however, you are able to be able to take the brunt of feral slimes or tarrs as well as dangers like fire. This modifier lets you determine the damage level at 0.5x, 1.0x, 1.25x or 1.5x.
If you’re playing for the very first time, we recommend eliminating Tarrs as well as Feral slimes. Tarrs especially can be a nightmare and can cause you to be frustrated in the beginning. It’s so simple to have several backup documents that it’s worthwhile understanding the basics before you introduce the additional dangers.
